ABOUT ME
Tyra "Crux" Jones-Blain is a multidisciplinary movement artist dedicated to pushing the boundaries of dance through immersive storytelling. For 18 years she has been classically trained in over 10 styles of dance. She attended Temple University and graduated top of her 2020 class with a BFA in Dance, given the Boyer Alumni Award and acknowledged as "Most Promising Performer." Currently, she is an educator, director, choreographer, and performer. As the co-founder of Forbidden Fruit, a creative wellness company, she produces interdisciplinary experiences globally, from events to creative productions.
Crux has choreographed work at renowned festivals and conferences such as Art Basel Miami and ETHLisbon in collaboration with artists like rapper LATASHÁ and VR sculptor Lee Mason. She's led master classes and directed youth dance for the theater program at Penn Wood High School and Middle School, as well as the hip-hop program at Sound Space Performing Arts. She's performed with esteemed choreographers including: Silvana Cardell, Brian Sanders, Merian Soto, Marion Ramirez, Megan Bridge, Esther Baker Tarpaga, Leah Stein, Dinita Clark, and Dara Meredith. She's also performed in music videos with renowned artists like
Tierra Whack, Pink Sweats, and Tori Kelly.
Crux's artistic practice is rooted in embodied explorations of universal human experiences, with a mission to make movement accessible to all in a way that liberates the collective inner child. Her past works include Embodied Origins, AVO: Solo Study, and AVO's prequel, with AVO: Alpha. Vida. Omega. serving as her most ambitious project yet. Crux continues to innovate at an interdisciplinary intersection of dance and technology, using her work to expand the possibilities of contemporary performance and navigate human existence.
